Mediation is a non adversarial process used to resolve disputes. It is a wonderful tool for divorcing couples who want to have a say in the terms of their own divorce. The ideal candidates for mediation are those couples who can speak honestly with each other and who are willing to make a voluntary disclosure of all of their assets and liabilities.

In her mediation practice, Attorney Susan DeMatteo acts as a neutral and does not represent either of the divorcing parties. Instead, through a series of meetings with the parties she facilitates the parties as they determine the terms of their own divorce. Parties are strongly encouraged to consult with their own attorneys during the mediation process. Attorney Susan DeMatteo does not give legal advice to the parties but instead helps guide them through the process of resolving all of the necessary terms of their separation and divorce.

At the conclusion of the mediation sessions, Attorney Susan DeMatteo will draft a Separation Agreement which describes all of the terms that the parties have developed. She is also able to assist the couple by preparing their Joint Petition for Divorce and accompanying forms which they can submit to the court.
